It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of LeeAndre “Moody” Banks on August 14, 2026.
Lee was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit & humor, generous heart, and the many ways he made others feel included. Lee was a Gemini through and through where upon being born, was given the nickname Moody, that stuck with him throughout his life.
Lee was born on June 7, 1990, in Akron, Ohio, to Margaret Lillie and Alvin Banks. Lee attended and graduated from Akron Public Schools (Kenmore High School). Lee continued his education at Tri-C and The University of Akron where he earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice. Lee built a career in the Protective Services and Private Security Industry working for various agencies including the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department, The City Mission of Cleveland, Cleveland House of Corrections, and later pursuing his own business ventures in Atlanta, Georgia, Secure Business Solutions.
Lee will be remembered for his warmth, strength, courage, and unwavering devotion to his family. Lee dearly loved his siblings and being a “big brother.” He had the remarkable ability to light up any room he entered, often breaking into song and bringing laughter, energy and a sense of joy to those around him. Lee cherished time spent with family and friends, especially around a good meal. His genuine curiosity allowed him to connect effortlessly with people from all walks of life. He could strike up conversation with anyone about nearly any topic. Guided by a sincere love for others, a desire to serve and an eagerness to learn, Lee lived his life with creativity & compassion and a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued. In his free time, Lee enjoyed cooking fine meals, especially food with an Asian influence, fashion trends, the newest cell phone, sports cars, music and karate`.
Lee is survived by his parents Margaret Esterle (Matt), and Alvin Banks. Sister’s Sylvia Humphrey (Carlos), and Kayla Esterle (Christopher). Brother Matthew Esterle (Rebecca). Nephew’s Carlos II and Cardae Humphrey. Niece’s Carys and Cara Humphrey. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends, and his faithful 4-legged companion, Dutch.
A viewing and memorial service will be held on Friday August 28, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio from 5:00PM -8:00PM. Memorial Service will begin at 7:00PM.
