Lawrence J. Corall "Larry", 85, of Akron, Ohio, passed away May 9, 2014. He was born on February 13, 1929. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, earning the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from MACtac with over 20 years of service and previously worked for Taystee Bakery and Saalfield Publishing Co. After retiring, Larry devoted himself to the care of his beloved wife, Vernie. Larry was a longtime member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. He was recognized as the Holy Name Society Man of the Year in 2001 and earned a Lifetime Award from the Southern District Deanery of Holy Name Societies in 1999. Larry enjoyed golf, euchre, and spending time with his family. Most importantly, Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He zealously supported his children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors and was their biggest fan. He loved to attend any and all of their sporting events and dance recitals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marie Corall; wife, Verona Corall; brothers, John and Charles Corall; sister, Dorothy Jubara. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his son, Larry (Sue) Corall, daughter, Mary Beth (Bill) Sobleskie, son, Tom (Mary) Corall; grandchildren, Bill (Stephanie) Sobleskie, Tom Corall Jr., Heather (Clay) Hicks, Dan Corall, Tim Corall, Annie Corall, Billy (Priscilla) Vuolo, Tracy Vuolo, and Paul Vuolo; great-grandchildren, Isabell Sobleskie, Miranda Hicks, Alex Hicks, Juliana Hicks, and Donald Vuolo; brothers, Robert Corall and William (Katie) Corall; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Akron General Medical Center and Hospice of VNS for the compassionate care given to Larry.
Family and friends may call on Monday, May 12 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 13 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
