Laurance D (Larry) Hinkle, 73, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at home with family and friends. He was born April 21, 1942 to the late Donald and Ruth Jesse (Shantz) Hinkle of Congo St.
Larry graduated Ellet High School class of 1960 then attended Hammel -Actual Business College, where he met his wife of 50 years, Loretta Ann Starcher.
He was a life long resident of Akron having worked at Goodyear Aerospace, Loral and Lockheed- Martin. Larry got a kick out of saying that he parked in the same space 38 1/2 years and worked for so many companies. He served seven years with the Ohio National Guard.
Larry was a member of Family of Faith Untied Methodist Church and a life resident of Ellet Community.
He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling and NASCAR.
Larry is survived by his wife, Loretta; sons, Laurance Donald II (Kelly) and Lendon Allen Hinkle; grandchildren, Brittany, Andrea, Kaitlynd, Chase and Leah; great grandson, Rylan; brothers, Richard (Judy) and Harold (Charlotte); nieces, Jennifer, Erin and nephew, Tim; four great nieces and one great nephew.
The family is thankful for the care he received from Brian Cain, MD; Charles Peter, MD; Babiker Eltayeb, MD and Brian Donalen, MD, also Akron General Visiting Nurse Service with special nurses, Ruth and Kathy that were called out in the middle night and sat with the family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 14 from 4 to 8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd Akron with additional calling hours on Monday, June 15 from 10am to 11am with funeral service to follow at 11am with Rev. Ron Shultz officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Family of Faith United Methodist Church, 800 E. Market St or the American Cancer Society.
