Laura R. Darby [Crowl], of Akron, joined our Lord’s choir on Monday October 6, 2025 in the company of her family. Laura is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, William J. Darby III; daughter Megan (Alexander) Barnett; sons Billy (Johanna) Darby and Danny Darby; her grandsons Owen and Rhys Barnett, as well as, her beloved parents Robert and Marlene Crowl; siblings Jeff (Connie) Crowl, Donna (John) Champer; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her youngest brother David Crowl.
Laura spent the last 23 years doing what she loved-teaching and caring for children. The last 16 years were spent living out her career dreams at Maplewood Career Center.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons-especially if their toes were in the sand. Laura had a deep love for music. She could often be found singing with family around a campfire or at church. Her voice was truly magnificent to behold. Laura also enjoyed working in her garden, finding unmatched adventure in books and reveled in the beauty of nature while she camped on her land in Pennsylvania with her husband.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We will carry her love and light in our lives-“we miss you all day and everyday Mamoh”.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday October 11th at St. Matthew Parish Catholic Church at 11 AM with Father Michael Williamson celebrant. A Celebration reception will follow the services at the church hall. All are welcome to attend either or both. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation.
