Laura Mae Abbott

Laura M. Abbott, 74, of Akron, passed away on May 15, 2026. She was born on October 15, 1951 the daughter of the late Warren and Bessiemae Stone. She worked for many years at Edwin Shaw Hospital. Known for her artistic touch, Laura found pleasure in decorating, transforming ordinary spaces with her creativity and attention to detail. She had many achievements but her greatest was her love for her family and she always took great joy in the company of her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She never failed to brighten up a room with her sense of humor, laughter, and the love in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Warren H. Stone Jr., and Rodney Stone; and nephew Warren H. Stone III.

Laura is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Mike Abbott; children Michelle (Mark) Hart, Michael (Sarah) Abbott Jr., and Mathew (Tamra) Abbott; grand children Laura, Steven, Abby, Mathew, and Jenna; great-grandchildren Maggie and Gideon; surrogate great grandchildren Lilly and Ariya; siblings Sandy Boyd, and Timothy (Karen) Stone; best friend and sister-in-law Linda Stone; and many nieces, nephews and friends. "Laura will be greatly missed".

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be at 1:00pm with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating.

Interment will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Garden.
