Larry Wayne Olson

Larry Wayne Olson, 81, of Akron, passed away on March 29, 2026. He was born on January 5, 1945 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Stanley and Betty Olson. He grew up in Akron and graduated from North High School before attending the University of Akron.

Larry spent his career as a programmer in the IT departments of General Tire and IBM. After retiring in 2007, Larry filled his days with good books and computer games. He was an avid traveler and particularly enjoyed family trips to Paris and Hawaii.

Larry had a soft spot for animals, and had several beloved dogs over the years. He had a quick wit and always brought laughter to family gatherings. He was a devoted father to his three sons and loved being Gramps to his grandchildren.

Larry will be dearly missed by his sons, Christopher Olson, Todd (Teresa) Olson, and Derek Olson; grandchildren, Tyler Olson, Luis Herbosa, Gabrielle (Rafa) Herbosa, and Katrina Herbosa; and other extended relatives. Larry also leaves many friends, including his best friends, Harley and Cathy Bossenbroek.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 4:30-6:30 pm followed by a 6:30 pm funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Summit County
