Larry Hembury

Larry Hembury 71, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2015. He was born in Tylertown, MS to the late Teddy and Neva Hembury. The family relocated to Akron, OH where he was a 1962 graduate of Ellet High School. Larry served his country for 4 years in the Ohio Army National Guard. Within his lifetime he worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co for 10 years, spent the next 25 years in the car business, and recently retired from Carter Lumber after 20 years of service. Larry was instrumental in the building of Akron Derby Downs BMX track and spent countless hours volunteering at the track. He was also an avid hunter and golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 6 grandsons.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Karen Strehlau. He leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife of 48 years Elaine; children, Sonya (Ernie) Cole, Jennifer (Jeff) Williams, and Jason Hembury; grandchildren, Bradley, Jacob, Jordan, Justin, Tyler and Ethan; and a host of other relatives and friends, especially best friend, Dale Harrison.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 5-8pm and funeral service will be on Thursday October 1, 2015 at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
