On Sunday, March 29, 2026, Kim Fleming (71) passed away at home, surrounded by family. She didn’t like crowded rooms, so we’re certain she was glad to be out of there.
She also wasn’t a fan of things like this and would probably be annoyed if this turned into some run-of-the-mill, buttoned-up sob fest. So, with that in mind, here’s the usual information:
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Alta Mae Hale, and her brother, Ed. She is survived by her husband, Jim; her sons, Kiel (partner Sarah) and Todd (wife Denise); and her grandchildren, Wyatt, Anyah, and Wade. She is also survived by her sister, Kay (nephews Shane and Thomas), and her brothers, Tom and Jon.
Instead of listing off her life milestones and accomplishments, of which there were many, we would rather thank the people who made her life fuller. Your calls and texts always brightened her day. Your stories made her feel connected and part of your lives, so thank you.
Anyone who knew Kim knows her favorite thing in life was being a grandmother. The greatest gifts Todd and Denise ever gave her were Wyatt, Anyah, and Wade. A quick note from Kiel, who is writing this: thank you Todd for getting me off the hook on the whole “When are you giving me grandkids?” question.
To her grandchildren, who may one day read this, please know that your grandmother loved you more than anything in the world. She bragged about you every chance she got. One of her favorite memories was the three of you together at Christmas. She knew you would grow into incredible people, and she was so proud of you already.
Now, you’re probably wondering if there will be a memorial service or something. To quote Kim, “I don’t want any of that.” She’s still calling the shots, so there won’t be anything like that.
In lieu of sending flowers, nothing would make her happier than if you went out and bought yourself a Lego set. Enjoy some time doing something you like with people you love. And also Lego. Always Lego.
