Kennon Wayne Reed Sr.

Kennon Wayne Reed Sr., 83, of Kent, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on March 11, 2026. He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on February 6, 1943 to the late Richard and Mildred {Jones} Reed.

In addition to his parents, Kennon is preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice {Pittman} Reed, son Kenneth White, sisters Judith Sisk, Brenda Carico and Diane (Charles) Lowery and brothers Gary Reed and Roger Reed.

Kennon is survived by his loving children Judy Meredith, Michael White, Donna Reed, Kennon Reed Jr. (Patty), Roger Reed, Roger (Kathy) White, Terry (Heather) Reed, Ross (Tracy) Reed and Rebecca (John) Dye; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; siblings Rick (Pat) Reed and Blaine Reed; sister-in-law Jill Reed; brother-in-law Tom Carico.

Kennon loved to play cards, go to the casino, listen to music, and play scratch-off lottery tickets. More than anything, Kennon loved spending time with family, traveling with Janice, and teaching his kids how to fish. He could spend hours on the shore with a fishing pole in his hand...his happy place.

Kennon loved to tell stories of his life, teaching lessons to his children and grandchildren that he'd learned from life experience. Family gatherings were one of his passions, and he would spend days in the kitchen, cooking and making sure his family's stomachs and hearts were full.

Family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Friday, March 20th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., when the funeral service will begin with Chaplain Terry Arnold officiating. A committal service will follow at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield, where Kennon will be laid to rest with Janice.
