Kenneth M. "KC" Cox

August 27, 1940 — July 17, 2025

Akron, OH

Kenny Cox, lovingly known as “KC” to his friends and family, passed away in his home on July 17, 2025. He grew up in Brady Lake.

Kenneth was proceeded in death by his father, Kenneth L. Cox and his mother, Josephine M. (Pellegrini) Cox and sister, Donnette Kothera.

A devoted family man, loyal friend, and humble yet successful businessman, Kenny leaves behind a legacy rooted in generosity, integrity, and quiet strength.

KC was a passionate supporter of Ohio sports, he cheered with unwavering enthusiasm for the Buckeyes, the Browns, the Guardians, and the Cavaliers.

Whether it was a tailgate or a late-night game on TV, KC found joy in the teams that represented the spirit and grit he admired.

KC built a life and businesses based on hard work. Never one to seek the spotlight, he let his actions speak for him. He led by example — treating customers like family, employees with deep respect, and every person he met with kindness and sincerity. His generosity was quiet but profound. He gave to his community not for praise, but out of a genuine desire to help. Whether it was donating to local causes, mentoring young professionals, or quietly covering a friend’s hardship, KC lived his values every day.

KC also had a wide circle of friends — from childhood buddies to business associates — who knew him as the heart of every gathering. With a quick wit, a thoughtful word and an open heart, he made everyone feel like family.

He is survived by his partner, Cheryl Ann; her children, John (Christine) and Katie Spinks; and her grandson, Jaden; his children, Kenny Jr. (Holly) and Shelly (Brent) and grandchildren, Madison and Mallory Cox-Shreffler, all of whom adored their “Papa.” He is also survived by his sister, Patty Earle, extended family, and countless friends who will miss his wisdom, humor, and presence.

KC owned 21 bars, most in the Akron area since 1968. He loved softball and was a pitcher for many years. He was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame at Firestone Stadium.

KC enjoyed playing in pool leagues for years and was inducted into the Greater Akron Billiards Hall of Fame as well.

A Celebration of Kenny’s Life will be held at KC’s Dugout on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 11am until 7pm.

KC lived a full life grounded in purpose, compassion, and humility. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
