Kay Rhodes Gaug passed away peacefully on Saturday July 18th surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
She was born March 11, 1953 in Akron, Ohio the daughter of Samuel R. And Vivian Rhodes. She spent most of her life in Akron and has been a resident of Uniontown for the past 18 years.
Kay is survived by her loving husband Tim, her son Justin (Katie) Mancino, daughters Sarah (Ryan) Haas; Keri (Ben) Fox and the loves of her life, her 7 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jay D. Rhodes, sisters Kim (John) Lemay, Rae (Bill) Hardy, and Teri (Mark) Belding, her favorite aunt, Bobi Gaddis, many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, co-workers and special friends Ben Mancino and Mark Stahl.
Kay was the President and proud owner of Record Research of Summit County, Inc. and also a devoted employee for over 44 years. The company, started by her mother, has been a family owned business for 54 years. She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1971 and attended The University of Akron. Kay loved being surrounded by family and friends, her beloved dogs, spending time outside by her pool, shopping, traveling, and going to the theatre. Her generosity to all was unsurpassed.
The family will greet those who loved her at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N Canton Road Akron, Ohio 44305 on Wednesday July 22nd from 2-4 and 6-9. The service will be held the following morning at 10:30am conducted by Chaplain Doug Olson. Memorial donations can be directed to Akron General Hospice/Visiting Nurse Service.
