Kay Nancy Graybeal, 82, passed away on November 3, 2026, in Tallmadge, Ohio. She was born on February 25, 1944, in Akron, Ohio.
Kay built a life centered on hard work, care for others, faith, and family. She graduated from Garfield High School in Akron in 1962 and later earned her associate's degree in computer science from the University of Akron in 1982. From 1965 to 1985, she worked as a bank teller for Evans Savings, Akron Savings, and Ohio Savings. From 1985 to 2009, she cleaned houses for others, continuing a long working life marked by dedication and reliability.
She was a caring person who was always looking after others. Over the years, she cared for her grandmother, her father, and her mother in their later years. As the middle child, she was known in the family for often taking the blame for everything. She was kind to animals and enjoyed the companionship of her pets.
Kay also took great pride in her home and in the things she cared for every day. She loved tending to her flowers and lawn, even if dandelions were never welcome. She enjoyed crochet and was known as an immaculate housekeeper. Her family said you could eat off her floors, a reflection of the care and attention she brought to her home.
Her faith was an important part of her life. She was involved in church study groups and organizations and was a faithful attendee of Tallmadge Lutheran Church, where she had been a member since 1982. Before that, she was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church from childhood until 1982.
Kay is survived by her loving husband of more than 62 years, David Earl Graybeal. She also leaves behind her sons, Howard Graybeal and Becky Jones, and Daniel Graybeal and Tricia Adams. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandsons, David Perry Graybeal and Dylan Graybeal, Bryce Graybeal and Zanele Mkhawbane, and Jacob Graybeal. Her memory will also be cherished by her great-grandchildren, Brayden and Klaire, by her sister Dorothy Jandrokovic, and by three loving nieces and two grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Singleton; her father, Paul Singleton; and her brother, Daniel Singleton.
A service honoring her life will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 13, 2026, at Tallmadge Lutheran Church, 759 East Ave, Tallmadge, OH 44278 with Pastor Andy Alberts officiating. Calling hours will be from 10:00am -11:00am prior to the service at church. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church.
