Kathryn Corinne Gorby

Kathryn Corinne Gorby, 76, of Akron, passed away January 6, 2015. Corinne was born in Youngstown, Ohio on February 14, 1938. She graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1956. In her younger years Corinne participated in a traveling soft ball league out of Youngstown playing catcher and first base. Corinne retired from (Ohio Bell) Ameritech in 1991 after 35 years of service as a Maintenance Engineer. During her time with Ameritech she participated in many charitable functions including the Special Olympics. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge for several years and was a member of the Hand Bell Choir. Corinne was co-founder of the Tri- County APL and donated countless hours to animal rescue. In her free time, she was an avid bowler and golfer. Corinne was considerate a very kind and loving person by all who knew her and had an enormous faith that helped her transition into her Heavenly Home. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Gorby; mother, Margaret Kornick and step-father, Michael Kornick. She is survived by best-friend, caregiver and roommate of 28 years, Connie Mason; sister, Carolyn Little of Austintown, Ohio; niece, Kathy Little of Cuyahoga Falls and Kevin Little of Campbell, Ohio and her fur baby, Abby. Family and friends may call on, Friday, January 9, 2015 from 9:00am to 11:00am at First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Dr. Tallmadge, Ohio 44278, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 am.
