Kathleen Belle Sanders, "Belle", age 92 of Akron, Ohio, went home to be with our Lord on April 18, 2016 at 3:28 am at Akron City Hospital after a short battle with cancer and congestive heart failure.
She was born on November 12, 1923 in Senecaville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Uriah and Floral Clark Potts.
Over the years, she had accomplished many things such as volunteering at Children's Hospital here in Akron, for children with polio. She had gained a lot of knowledge after having her first three children born with polio in the 1940s. She also started the March of Dimes in the Akron North Hills area. Belle was past president of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and she was employed at Logan Machine Co. in Akron for 38 years. She traveled after retirement to Spain, and the Holy Land; and she sponsored many children from different countries thru World Vision.
Belle is preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Sanders; two sons, James W., and Gerry D. Sanders; her siblings, Earl, Jim, Betty, and Bonnie.
Survivors include her children, Vicki L. Sanders, Kevin E. (Tina McCoy) Sanders, Megen S. (John Fleener) Sanders, and Lori A. (David) Smith; 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Her brother and sister also survive, Donald (Mary) Potts, and Shirley Swartz.
Family and friends may visit from 6-8 PM, Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2016. Family and friends may also gather one hour prior to the service on Saturday. She lived a full life and will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to One's Favorite Charity.
