Kathern T. Refi

Kathern T. Refi, 83, passed away on May 18, 2025. She was born on May 5, 1942, the daughter of the late Joseph and Roberta Refi of Akron, Ohio. Kathern was known for her warmth, kindness, and deep love for her family, which remained at the center of her life.

She worked for Goodrich for 20 years and retired from the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center after many years of dedicated service.

A wonderful cook and baker, Kathern brought joy to her family. She made her house a home which was often filled with laughter and the delicious aromas of her cooking.

Kathern had a gentle spirit and compassion for any animal. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

Kathern took immense pride in her family, and her greatest accomplishments were the relationships she cherished with her loved ones, particularly her grandchildren.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Joseph P. Refi Jr.; and sister Barbara Refi.

Kathern is survived by her daughters Vicki E. Kyer and Mindi E. Wiseman; grandchildren Ashlee (Chad) Horstman, Emilee (Dan) Dolak, and Hailee (William) King; great-grandchildren Caiden, Grayson, Drake, Elayna, Lillie, Payton, Zack, Abby, Kaydence, Ellie, Aydan, Ava, and William; niece Sanda Niederer; and best friend Denise Truxell.

Per Kathern's wishes cremation will take place.
