Katherine E. Ferrell, 99, of Akron, passed away August 5, 2012 just before her 100th birthday. She was born in Akron on November 2, 1912 to the late Lester and Mabel Shepherd.
Katherine retired after 30 years from the Board of Education as Food Service Supervisor of Akron Public Schools, also retiring after 15 years from the Ohio Edison Company as Supervisor of the Corporate Kitchen. Katherine was a member of the Firestone Park Presbyterian Church for 60 years. She enjoyed bingo, cooking, baking, crocheting, feeding the birds and taking care of her dogs.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; brother, Lester; sisters, Iris Nicola, Rosalie Brubaker and Ella Ley.
Katherine is survived by her sons, Wesley, Charles (Alice); daughter, Karen (Chuck) Pope; grandchildren, Dave (Becky), Bob (Vicki), Jeff (Nina), Craig (Kathy), Cara (Jeff) Meckler, Traci (Dave) Sturm, Jennifer (Mark) Kynett, Melissa (Brian) Sabo; 18 great-grandchildren.
A private inurnment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
