Karen Lynne Topping, aged 66, went home to be in the loving arms of Jesus her Savior on April 25, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 29, 1960, she enjoyed having a Leap Year birthday and being much “younger” than others.
Karen was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness and love of others, beautiful singing voice, and passion for various genres of music, literature, and art. In years past, she volunteered to teach adults to read and sang to comfort hospice patients. Karen loved and spoiled many pets during her life. She leaves behind her beloved West Highland White Terrier, Jasmine, who has been adopted by a loving family.
Karen was the first in her immediate family to obtain a bachelor’s degree having graduated from The University of Akron. During her work career, she was an educator and communications professional.
Karen is survived by her mother, Geraldine Topping (Turner), her sister, Darlena L. Holan, and brother-in-law, Keith R. Holan, M.D. She was preceded in death by her father, William M. Topping, grandparents, Dewey and Lula Turner, and several aunts and uncles. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen’s family encourages acts of kindness toward those in long‑term care facilities as they often live in isolation and are forgotten. Her journey reminds us that every soul deserves to be remembered, visited, and cherished. Consider mailing a card. When visiting, a short conversation, a smile, or simply sitting with someone can lift a spirit in ways you may never fully see. In Scripture we’re reminded that when we care for “the least of these,” we are caring for God Himself. Remembering and visiting the forgotten is holy work - quiet, simple, and deeply needed.
Karen’s life will be celebrated on a future date. Donations in her memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or The Haven of Rest.
