Karen E. {Brenneman} Susick

Karen {Brenneman} Susick, beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. Born on November 14, 1940, in Akron, Ohio, Karen was the oldest daughter of Carl and Neva {Rossiter} Brenneman.

Karen's life was a testament to resilience, business savvy, care for others, and a devotion to family. Graduating from Green High School in 1958, she first pursued a passion for helping others by training as a nurse—a career that would see her work in multiple doctors' offices. As her life continued, she gravitated towards business. At her entrepreneurial peak, she WAS the entertainment provider for the city of Green, owning and running two successful video stores.

Karen was also active in her community. As a dedicated member of the Green United Methodist Church, she found joy in community and service. She volunteered with Green Good Neighbors and was an active participant in AARP.

Above all, Karen found joy spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother to her five sons: Jeff (Cindy) Hixson, Jon (Heather) Hixson, Jim (Heidi) Hixson, Jerry Hixson, and Joe Susick, as well as a loving stepmother to Michelle (Bruce) Tucker. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren who carry forward her spirit and values.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Neva, her brothers Kendall, Kim, and Kevin Brenneman, her husband Fred Susick, and her ex-husband Richard P. Hixson. She is survived by her sister Kyra, and brothers Karl and Kris (Judy) Brenneman. She leaves behind a family that will forever honor her memory and a community that benefited from her grace and generosity.

A celebration of life will occur for Karen on Saturday, September 12th at Greensburg United Methodist Church starting at 3:00 pm with dinner following after. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Karen's memory to organizations supporting Alzheimer's research or to Green United Methodist Church, reflecting the causes that were close to heart.
