Judith Faye "Judy" Wood

Judith Faye "Judy" Wood, born in Barberton on September 14, 1942, went home to join her family in Heaven on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Born to the late Woodrow and Burdena {Wharton} Groff, Judy was a 1960 graduate of Barberton High School.

Judy met the love of her life, William H. "Bill" Wood, and they married on her 21st birthday, September 14, 1963. They spent 54 wonderful years together before his passing in September of 2017. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Judy was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Harry Palmer Jr. and nephew Harry Palmer III.

Judy is survived by her beloved children, Debra (Derek) Swan and Scott (Susan) Wood; grandchildren Logan, Evan and Kaden, Wesley, Russell, Macie, Grace and Lily; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Linda Palmer; nieces Laurie Rawlings, Kathy Palmer; nephew Doug Palmer.

Judy was a member of University Bible Fellowship Church. She was an avid supporter of those in need, and often sponsored children's charities such as St. Jude and Shriner Children's Hospitals.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Wednesday, December 17th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy's memory are suggested to University Bible Fellowship Church, Akron.
