Josephine Rice Deitchman

Josephine "Jo" Rice Deitchman, 72, passed away on September 8, 2017. She was born April 7, 1945 and was a graduate of Garfield High School, where she was artist of the year in 1963. Jo attended the Akron Art Institute and completed her B.A. in Fine Arts from Kent State University. Her zest for life was expressed through her painting, tending her rose garden, joy of gourmet cooking, and devotion to family and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 21 years, Dr. Robert Deitchman; parents, Ulysses and Bessie Rice; and brother-in-law, James C. Ely Jr.. She is survived by her sisters, Evelyn (Lloyd) Shepherd of Madison, NJ, Beverly Ely, Sandra (Melvin) Richardson of Austell, GA, and Dr. Janet Rice; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Per her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
