Joseph Clayton Mitchner, "Joe", age 57 of Portage Lakes, died on September 2, 2016 at his home.
He was born on November 14, 1958 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of James E. Mitchner of Ellet and the late Carol Ann Hawkins Mitchner.
Joe was owner and operator for over 20 years of Custom Auto Glass in Akron. He loved boating, custom painting, motorcycles, and custom cars. He loved to attend car shows with his 1940 Packard hot rod. Joe loved to have a good time, had a passion for cooking for his family, and was famous for his annual 4th of July parties.
Other than his father, Joe is survived by his step-mother, Helen Mitchner; his wife, Nancy L. Hughes Mitchner; his two children, Joey Mitchner and Shelby Mitchner; his two siblings, Dave Mitchner and Sue Six; his nieces and nephews, Ken, Donna, and Allie Mitchner, Rebecca Six, Andrew Six, and Luke Hughes; and many, many friends he considered family.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
