Joseph A. Charnovich, Jr., 82, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2015.
Joe was born on July 8, 1932 in Library, PA to the late Joseph and Stella Charnovich. He served with the US Army and retired from the IRS after 30 years of service. Joe was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, golfing, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a faithful man and an avid reader of religious literature.
Preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Delores. Survivors include his beloved wife, Rebecca, of 59 years; daughter, Carrie (Kevin) Whittaker; sons, Joseph (Zorina) and Robert (Beth); daughter, Shelli Gaone; brother, Richard; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Friday, 4-8 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 5755 Granger Rd. Suite 700 Independence, OH 44131 or Pleasant View Health Care Center, 401 Snyder Ave. Barberton, OH 44203.
