Jon Terry Haupt
Jon T. Haupt passed away September 29, 2015 at home with his family by his side.
He was born in Alliance, Ohio to Harry and Hazel Haupt.
Jon played on many softball teams, umpired them as well and his passion was the love of watching football, OSU in particular. He served as Governor,Past Governor , Jr. Governor and Prelate for the Mogador Moose # 1082 where he was always concerned about doing right for the members of the club. After a work related injury partially disabled him, he opened a pet store ( Ali's Pets) breeding birds and hand feeding them. After he regained his mobility, he drove a cement truck for approximately 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry (Clair) and Hazel Haupt and sister Sandra Richards. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart/wife Dorothy of 40 years; daughter, Allison (Joe);grandchildren,Dominyc Haupt, Samantha and Jonathon Karasek, Maryna, Grayce and Ava Steiner;sisters, Judy(Frank) Bargides,Connie Spangenburg;brothers,Gary(Pat) Haupt, Manny (Pam) Haupt as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Summa CCU Intensivists, the nurses, Dr. George Ilodi and staff, Palliative Care and the Summa at Home hospice for their compassionate care for Jon.
For the love Jon had of football, we are asking anyone that would like to participate to wear OSU shirts and/or jeans as the family will be doing this in his honor.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home,131 N. Canton Rd, Akron OH, 44305 on Saturday October 3, 2015, with service immediately following. A dinner at the United Methodist Church at 3828 Mogadore Rd.,Mogadore, OH will follow the service.
