Johnnie Brown Jr, 76 of Akron, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 27,2026. Born on November 21,1949, in Yantley, Alabama, Johnnie was the son of the late Johnnie Brown Sr. and Carrie Mae Brown. 

Johnnie graduated from Hower Vocational School in 1968 and went on to earn his certification as an electrician through the Goodyear Apprentice Program in 1972. His career as an electrician spanned an impressive 37 years until his retirement in 2009. Even after retirement, his passion for his craft led him to continue working as a contractor. He was an avid billiards player and bowler, a skilled chess enthusiast, and even found delight in video games.

Johnnie is survived by children: daughter Silenthia Brown of Akron, Ohio; his son Rynon Brown of Akron, Ohio; his brothers William H. Brown (Fannie) of Norton, Ohio, and Johnnie Brown III “John Boy” of Akron, Ohio; and his sister Margaret Ann Clark (Harry) of Akron, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers James Johnson, Dawud Siddiq, and Charles Ray Brown; and his sister Noral Parnell.

The family of Johnnie Brown Jr would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers and support during this time of bereavement. May Johnnie’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44305.
