John Lionetti, 86, passed away on April 17, 2014, after a short illness.
Born in Cassano DelMurge in Italy in 1928. His parents, Vincent and Irene, 5 brothers and 5 sisters all preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Dorothy; 2 daughters, Irene Lionetti and Susette Loughney; 2 grandchildren, Derek and Mystie; 2 great-grandchildren, Savannah and Justin; adopted granddaughter, Tiffani Harris; adopted daughter, Elsy Carpenter and her family; 1 sister; 1 brother; many nieces and nephews in Italy; and many friends.
He worked for the City of Akron Sewer Dept. for 30 years, then for Shanafelt Maintenance for 6 years. He enjoyed working in the garden, making wine and sharing it with friends, and he loved family gatherings. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family who he took good care of as best as he could.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Summa, his nurse, Linda, his therapist, Jim, and the rest of the staff for their help and caring. Also, special thanks to Father Joe at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
