John L. Landis, 89, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 30, 2016 after a long illness. John was born in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania on July 20, 1926 to the late Charles and Pauline Landis. He was a WW II veteran of the Army serving in Germany from 1944-1946. He was a welder and proud Union man who worked 42 years at the Babcock and Wilcox Company, retiring in 1988. He was a loyal Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed outdoor activities.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Charles Landis; and sister, Martha Speelman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty M. Landis; sons, John B. (Sharon) Landis and Terry J. (Joan) Landis; grandchildren, Elizabeth Landis, Mark Landis and Matthew Landis; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
