John N. "JR" Horak

John N. "JR" Horak , 87 passed away July 10, 2025. He was the first born son of John and Ann Horak. John was the second of six children and he was a U.S . Navy Veteran. John made a career as an owner/operator trucker, whether it was local dumptrucks or over the road, behind the wheel is where he could be found. When not driving, John enjoyed a lifetime love of fishing Mogadore reservoir, working on cars, and most of all dancing.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by children, Anne Horak, Chuck Horak; siblings, Lillian (Gene), Frank; sister-in-law, Madeline. He will be sadly missed by his children, John, Tina, Bill (Michele), Matt (Gina), Joe (Deanna), Wayne, Daniel (Shannon), Steve (Christie), Casandra Arends; 36 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; siblings, Tom, Charles, Joan (Greg) Tedrick; sister-in-law, Sandy; numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral mass will take place Friday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
