John (Jack) Hoover

Jack was born April 15, 1947 in Akron, Ohio and passed away August 25, 2025 at the home he loved. He battled cancer for ten years. He loved life and fought with bravery until the very end.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Kathy of 54 years. Also his children Brian (Crystal) and Tammy (Aaron) Grassley.

A graduate of Garfield High School in 1966, he had been a resident of Tallmadge for the last 50 years. He was the Field Supervisor for DDA where he had the opportunity to travel the United States and retired after 30 years of service. He also was an Army Vietnam War Veteran.

He loved working on his model train display (especially with his nephew Luke) and volunteering as a trainman on the Cuyahoga Railroad. He also loved hiking, bike riding, and riding his horse, Pogo. He was a longtime member of the Turner Club and enjoyed visiting with his friends. He never met a stranger and was always happy and upbeat.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 5th at 11:00 AM at the Tallmadge Cemetery Gazebo, 35 Southwest Ave. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20th from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Turner Club, 547 Munroe Falls Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations to One of a Kind Pets, 1700 W. Exchange St., Akron, 44313.
