John Frederick Johnson, 88, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday July 24, 2026. He was born on April 25, 1938 in Ruston, Louisiana to the late Louis and Clara (Boyett) Johnson. John served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. He moved to Akron, Ohio and married Bonnie (Ballew) Johnson on December 16, 1961.
John was an iron worker and estimator for Iron Workers Local 17 and co-found and co-owned Mull Iron and was a dedicated co-owner for many years.
John was a family man through and through. He loved trips to Myrtle Beach to spend time with his family. Along with playing with his beloved great grandchildren. He was an amazing husband and father, though his most honored title was Papa, a nickname his grandchildren gave to him.
John will be remembered for his charming smile (and dimples), beautiful white hair, sharp wit and generous spirit. He was always there to help out family and friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Johnny; brothers, Louis Jr., Murrel, Wayne; sisters, Nettie and Nora; mother and father in law, Carrie and John Ballew.
John is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; daughter, Connie; grandchildren, Kayla, Carrie (Logan), Clara (Cooper), Jaden (Arica); great-grandchildren, Parker, Chloe, Brooke, Beau; brothers, Edward and Ray (Patty); and sister, Evelyn (Sheldon).
