John Alfred DeLuca, 96, passed into the loving arms of The Lord, on March 7, 2015. John was born in Magnolia, Ohio to Luciano and Jennie DeLuca on April 22, 1918.
He served in the navy in World War II. On his return, he worked at Goodrich Rubber Company and then at Goodyear from which he retired. He was also a home builder and built homes primarily in the Ellet area.
John was a joy to be around, and he had a terrific sense of humor. He was an extremely generous person and enjoyed helping others.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anita, who was the love of his life; brothers, Vincent, Robert, Angelo, Anthony, Phillip, and sister, Mary.
He is survived by his devoted brother, Luciano DeLuca (Renata) and his many nieces and nephews, notably his loving niece, Roseann Walton. He also leaves his dear friends, John and Sandy Pfeiffer.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke of Portage Lakes for the wonderful care he received.
The family will receive family and friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home at 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685 at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday March 14, 2015. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
