John L. Dawson

John L. Dawson, 85, passed away on October 3, 2026. He was born on March 11, 1941 the son of the late Truman and Ollie Dawson of Tyler County, WV. John was a member of the American Legion Post #566. He retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service from Waste Management. John then went on to work at Coventry Well and Pump Services. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and was always on the hunt for the elusive "Ginseng Root". John never failed to brighten up a room with his infectious smile, sense of humor, and his laughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Joe Dawson, Betty Travis, Bonnie Boor, and Roberta Beaver.

John is survived by his loving family, his children Carrie (Terry) House, John Michael (Kimberly) Dawson, and Kristy (Justin Marsh Sr.) Dawson; grandchildren Shawn Dawson, Justin Marsh Jr., Kortney Dawson, Katelyn Marsh, Brittany (Zack) Woods, and Bridget Smith; great-grandchildren Bailey, Zoey, Briella Colton, Caleb, Braxtyn, Bostyn, and Justin III; siblings Barbara Gump, and Truman "Junior" Dawson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 9th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron).
