John D. Clark, 78, of Akron, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015. John was born in Akron, Ohio on September 26, 1936 to the late Charles and Mary Clark. He graduated from North High School in 1954, after which he served three years in the Army National Guard. John was employed with Lawson's Milk Company for 16 years before retiring from the City of Akron Street Cleaning Department after 12 years. He was a lifetime member of Akron First Assembly of God where he served as an Usher for over 30 years. An avid runner, John completed the Toledo Glass City Marathon as well as many local 5K and 10K races. John enjoyed summertime on the lake boating with his family, and in the winter months skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling, and sledding. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene; brothers, Charles Jr. (Juniboy) and Richard. He is survived by wife, Deanna Clark of 59 years; son, John Clark Jr.; daughters, Sharon (Tom) Wertz and Rebecca (Bruce) Foldi; grandchildren, Mitchell Foldi, Alyson (Lee) Emery and Jenna Wertz; sister, Naomi "Ruthie" Phillips and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Asera Care Hospice and Essex Nursing Home for the care given to John and his family. Family and friends may call on, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6 to 8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron and on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 10 to 11am at Akron First Assembly Church of God, 1175 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44313 with funeral services to follow at 11:00am with Pastor Kent Jarvis officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Haven of Rest in John's name.
