John M. Arnett

John M. Arnett, 93, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2025. He will be greatly missed by those left behind but joyfully welcomed by loved ones who had gone home before him. He was born in Akron, Ohio to George and Evelyn (Parkins) Arnett on November 21, 1931. John married the love of his life, Lyvonne, with whom he enjoyed 63 years of marriage. John was a proud U. S. Army Veteran and he belonged to the American Legion Post 645 for over 20 years. He was also a member of the former Goodyear Heights United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Lyvonne Arnett; siblings, Frank Parkins, Gilbert Arnett, Dennis Arnett, Roy Arnett, Carolyn Stevens. He will be sadly missed by his children, David (Paula) Nolt, Kim (Kevin) Steiner, Shelly (Steve) Betchel; grandchildren, Joey Steiner, Amy (Ryan) Moran, Kyle Betchel, Kristopher Finch; great grandchildren, Clayton and Ashton Moran; sisters, Judy Lavendar, Eleanor Williams; many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 11 to 12 noon at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will take place at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations in John's name to the animal rescue organization of their choice.
