John A. Hunt, 84, passed peacefully at home on August 20, 2014.
John served with the US Army for 2 years. Cooking was his passion; he enjoyed feeding people and watching them enjoy his food. He also enjoyed playing bingo with friends and family. John retired from St. Thomas Hospital in 1985 and then worked at various establishments as a prep cook.
Preceded in death by 8 siblings and his parents. He is survived by long-time companion, Larry L. Hylton, of 28 years, and his family; sister, Bessie Rankin; several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Diane (Amanda Smith) DeStefano. Cremation will take place. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron.
