Joan Eileen Rankin, 50, passed away April 16, 2011. She was born in Akron on February 27, 1961. Joan will always be remembered as a wonderful cook and a generous person. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Rankin; father, Tom Viering; and sister, Karen Ratliff. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Brad and Justin Rankin; mother, Sally Stroup; brothers, Tom (Jennifer) Viering and Dan (April) Stroup; sister, Christine Viering; thirteen nieces and nephews; and many friends. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 followed by a 7 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd.
