Jo Ann Ferris, 95, of Akron, passed away November 9, 2013. She was born in Akron on October 19, 1918 to the late John and Lillian Brake and lived in Cuyahoga Falls before moving to Brimfield where she lived most of her life. Jo Ann was a former member of Cuyahoga Falls First Baptist Church and a current member of Faith United Methodist Church of Brimfield. Jo Ann had a lifelong love of music. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and leading children's church choirs for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, John and Lillian Brake; sister, Charlotte Craig; brothers, John P. Brake and William C. Brake; grandson, Robert James Ferris.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Donna Ferris, David and Susan Ferris; grandchildren, Beth, Susan, Patricia, David, Rob, Michele, Mellissa, Christine, and Daniel; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday November 12 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10-11 followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Faith United Methodist Church, 1235 Tallmadge Rd. in Brimfield. Interment at Grandview Memorial Park.
