Jerry K. Tucker passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He was the son of Karl and Mary Tucker. He lived in Akron all his life. Upon graduation from High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, becoming a hospital corpsman and served in combat in Korea with the U.S. Marines. Upon discharge he attended Akron University and received a degree in Psychology in 1961 and a Master Degree in Education in 1963. He taught English at Barberton High School for Thirty years. He wrote and published poetry and short stories. He was an avid sailor, skier, ice skater, and camper. He is survived by his beloved Joan Houger; two sons, Dean and Richard, a daughter, Nancy, a granddaughter, Amanda and two great grandchildren. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 3 to 5pm in Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, Ohio 44305 with funeral service to follow at 5pm. Burial with military honors will take place on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 9:30 am at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Rittman Ohio 44270.
