Jerome J. Dalton, Sr., 75, resident of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013. He was born January 9, 1938 in Akron, Ohio to the late Paul J. and Helen Dalton. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Jerry was a recipient of the Jaycees Int'l Senate Award and the 1973 Akron Jaycees Distinguished Service Award for his community service work with many organizations including; United Fund, YMCA and Camp Y-Noah, Soapbox Derby, Toastmasters, American Golf Classic, Goodwill Industries, Junior Achievement and a State Jaycee Director. In his retirement years, he served as a volunteer at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital and was a member of the Elks in Cuyahoga Falls.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Caroline (Ciavarella) Dalton, children; Monica, Mary and Jerome "Jerry" Dalton, Jr., grandson, Vincent Lauro, brother Paul (Julie Kirby) Dalton, nieces and nephews; Colleen (Ray) Hager, Janice (Dave) Sasinouski, Kathy (Terry) Carr, Patrick (Debbie) Meagher, Gary Brandon and Dean Dalton, best friends 'The Breakfast Club', many great nieces, great nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Rita (Jim) Meagher, Bobby and Patrick Dalton, sister-in-law Carol Dalton, niece Carol Sue Brandon. Friends and family may call 1-3 pm and 5-8 pm on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, 1761 Second St, Cuyahoga Falls, OH. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
