Listen to Obituary

Jeanne Rae Ellis, 71, of Akron Ohio, was called home by the Lord on May 8th, 2026.

Born to Harry Thomas and Lois Margene (Herzog) Allshouse on September 27th, 1954, Jeanne was a lifelong resident of the area, having graduated from Field High School, and attended the University of Akron.

Jeanne was a multidisciplinary craftswoman, expressing her creativity through a wide array of techniques over the years, be it sewing, knitting, stained glass, or baking. This means of emotional release, coupled with the support of her family and her faith, was vital for her challenge against multiple sclerosis across four decades.

Preceded in death by her husband David, she is survived by her son David Kenneth, his wife Mary Jo, her adored grandchildren Elijah, Ryleigh, and Everett, and her many beloved relations and friends.

Calling hours for Jeanne will take place on May 22nd from 1 to 3 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron at 131 N. Canton Road, with funeral services immediately following. She will join David at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis at the Cleveland Clinic.
