Listen to Obituary

Jeanie Renaye Dockery entered into the glories of Heaven on February 11, 2026. After one of the most courageous battles against cancer that has ever been known, one that leaves a testimony of persevering faith, hope and love, Jeanie submitted to the will of the lord, and is reveling in God while he prepares a place for her family and friends to join her.

Jeanie was born on December 7, 1962, to Father Billy Keith Tyree and Mother Nancy Jean Tyree. Jeanie was a graduate from Akron East High School and later spent years as a courier for Lab Care, a professional cleaner, and most importantly as the steadfast support and counterpart to her husband, Pastor James Dockery in their mission to spread the gospel. Motherhood included homeschooling, moving into a leadership role in her children’s PTA, among many other fun and family centered endeavors.

Jeanie is survived by her husband James Dockery, her children Ryan (partner Joey), Dustin (partner Marissa, children Cecelia and Barrett) and Sarah Ady (husband Adam Ady, daughter Gracelyn), and Mother Nancy Tyree.

Jeanie was proceeded in death by her father Billy Tyree, and her brothers Keith and twin Stephen.

The funeral services will be held at Newcomers Funeral Home at 131 N Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. Calling hours will be on Monday February 23rd from 6-8pm and on Tuesday February 24th from 11am-12pm. Our mom’s faith was the anchor of her life, and her family was her greatest treasure. She loved with her whole heart and found so much joy simply in being together. She showed us what it looks like to trust God through every season and to love others with patience, strength, and grace. Being a wife, mom, and Gigi was not just what she did, it was who she was, and the love she poured into our lives and the examples she set will shape the rest of our lives. Love you forever mommy

Jeanie Dockery, my dearest Mom, was the most loyal, thoughtful, genuine, caring, radiant, resilient, relentless, encouraging, supportive, and most of all loving woman that has ever graced this earth. As the devoted wife of a pastor, she lived her life with an uncompromising faith in forgiveness and redemption through the blood of Jesus. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built her home, one that was filled with unconditional love.

As her middle child some might assume I was the typical forgotten child, but that was anything but the case. My mom made sure that everyone one of us was given the same love, and support. She always made me feel as if I was special and chosen, and that she was lucky to be my mom, but the truth is I was lucky to be her son.

The hole left in my heart will never be filled. Until we meet again Momma, I love you.

Jeanie was born on December 7, 1962, to Father Billie Keith Tyree and Mother Nancy Jean Tyree. Jeanie was a graduate from Akron East High School and later spent years as a courier for Lab Care, a professional cleaner, and most importantly as the steadfast support and counterpart to her husband, Pastor James Dockery in their mission to spread the gospel. Not to mention being the best mom ever that included homeschooling, moving into a leadership role in her children’s PTA, among many other fun and family centered endeavors.

James (Jim) and Jeanie were married on October 25, 1983, in front of very few people, but even with an unspectacular start to their life together, they initiated one of the greatest love stories ever told. Jim and Jeanie had their first of three children in 1985 (Ryan) and popped out another (Dustin) less than 2 years later. Although her two boys filled the house with laughter, love and a lot of wrestling, Jeanie always had hoped for a daughter to dress in lace, braid her hair, pluck petals from flowers together, and most of all, be the best friend a mom could ever be. Jeanie and her mother got their prayer filled wish when Jeanie’s daughter Sarah was born on March 29, 1993. As if the fulfilled wish couldn’t be anymore wonderful, Sarah was born on Jeanie’s mother’s birthday, answering Jeanie and her mother’s prayers in only a way a God orchestrated miracle can.

Jeanie loved many things, but she would be remiss if the first thing listed wasn’t her Lord and Savior. Not far behind was her dashing husband Jim and children, grandchildren, parents, extended family and congregation at her second home The Sanctuary (the home church pastored by her husband Jim). Aside from the aforementioned, Jeanie loved to laugh and be silly, loved to craft, decorate and make things beautiful for the glory of the lord, loved the Cleveland Indians/Guardians, loved to shop (until everyone but her dropped), and most of all loved to meditate with her husband, over a cup of coffee and her bible.

Jeanie and Jim (or more commonly referred to as Pastor Jim and Jeanie), lived a life together that any and everyone who came in contact with, admired and even were jealous of. Their love was so pure and overwhelming it was infectious. Their heart for their family, friends and church was so evident it made others self-reflect. The example it set for their kids cannot be measured or lived up to. It was so immense it still has its own gravitational pull, and if you knew them, you can still feel it.

The family wants to thank you for your love and support of Jeanie Dockery through the many years she spent battling with illnesses. Her love is still shining through us, and it is our overwhelming pleasure to get to celebrate a life that truly was miraculous, together with those that loved her. Thank you, The Jeanie Dockery family.
