Jay W. Metzler, 75, of Clinton, Ohio, passed away April 16, 2014. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 3, 1938 to the late Fred and Margaret Metzler. Jay retired as a driver for Summit County MRDD, a job which he thoroughly enjoyed, along with surf and deep sea fishing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He loved woodworking and shared these gifts with everyone. Jay was a master at fixing just about anything.
Jay was a kind and generous spirit, protective, unselfish, honest, unpretentious, and a great judge of character. He loved his girls and provided them with wonderful adventures and life experiences!
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Grace (Stroup) Metzler, Daughters; Pamela (John Sobinovsky) Yost, Jenae (Rom) Caniglia, and Leanne (Scott) Beavers, Brother, Fred (Priscella) Metzler Jr, Grandchildren; Kara (Ernie) Borsich, Andy (Katie) Yost, Justin Yost, Samantha (Miguel) Acosta, and Kelly Beavers; Great Grandchildren; AJ, Maddie, and Alex Yost, Sister-In-Law, Alicia Metzler, and very special nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the caring staff at Summa Home Care.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral services which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305. Final resting place will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Jay fulfilled his wish to be an organ donor. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat For Humanity or provide help to someone in need.
