Jay Ross Murphy

Jay Ross Murphy, age 86, died on October 10, 2025. Jay was born on November 6, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. Jay lived in the Akron area most of his life and retired as the street commissioner of Cuyahoga Falls in 1994.

Jay was a kind, patient and loving Husband, Father and Friend, and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Jay loved the outdoors, watching Ohio sports teams, dinosaurs, celebrating Halloween, spending time with family and friends, and the many furry family members they owned/rescued over the years.

Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela {Tucker} Murphy, mother Marie O'Brien, and brother Mike Murphy. Jay is survived by son Steven Murphy, daughter Dawn Murphy and sister Patricia Bergstrom. Jay and Pam were preceded in death by lifelong friends Pat and Linda Woodliff. Jay and Pam also found lifelong friendships with Parley & Lala Lane and Dennis & Carol McFarland.

The family wants to thank Pebble Creek Nursing Home for the care they provided Jay.
