Janet Treat

Janet M. Treat, age 93, of Tallmadge passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on April 28, 2025. She was born in Seattle, Washington on February 16, 1932, to the late Kenneth and Florence McPherson. As a Naval veteran's daughter, Janet's early years were spent traveling the U.S. She attended university in Massachusetts where she met her husband Harry. They spent 69 loving years together until his passing in 2021. They raised their 5 children in New Jersey spending the summers on the Jersey Shore. She enjoyed volunteering at First Way Pregnancy Care in New Jersey. Janet's Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life and her family's life and was often found with a rosary in her hand. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church of Tallmadge. Janet enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece, and nephew.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children Karen Treat, Michael Treat, Monica (Tom) Labosky, and Sharon Sullivan; 12 grandchildren and18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Noreen Francis Treat, brother Malcolm (Susan) McPherson, and son-in-law Timothy Sullivan.

Funeral mass will be held at noon on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Williamson officiating. Friends may visit from 11:30 until the time of service on Monday at the church. Janet's final resting place will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tallmadge Good Neighbors (62 Community Rd., Tallmadge, OH 44278).
