Janet Marie Regec

Janet Marie Regec (Evans) 83, passed away 10-16-2025 peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Janet was a lifelong resident of Akron; she graduated from East High school and worked at St. Thomas Hospital in the Dietary Department. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, taking walks with her husband, and riding the stationary bike at the Natatorium. She liked OSU Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and she LOVED the Cleveland Indians, going to many games and player meet and greets. She loved music of all kinds, and being on the computer-playing games or on Facebook. She proudly held the office of Chaplin at her VFW Auxiliary for many years, she enjoyed going to auxiliary functions, meetings and conventions. She liked socializing with others. She was a life member of VFW Auxiliary 8487 in Mogadore, the Jednota Club and a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Akron.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Blackburn, father Robert Evans, and sister Mary Gearheart. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Edward, children Edward (Deborah) Regec, Anthony Regec, Cheryl (John) Eaton and Vincent (Kathy) Regec; brothers Jim (Karen) Evans and Bobby (Allison) Evans, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be at Newcomer on Thursday Oct. 23, from 4:30 to 6:15 pm with a VFW Auxiliary service to begin at 6:15. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church on Friday Oct. 24 at 10 am with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic Hospice for the kindness, patience and encouragement to the family, but also loving care, dignity and compassion she received from every single person who helped her. Donations may be made to Cleveland Clinic Hospice or Blessed Trinity Church in Akron.
