Janet Louise Adams (nee Brotherton)
Janet Louise Adams, 77, of Brimfield, passed away on November 9, 2012. She was born on October 14, 1935 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Motie and Bessie Brotherton. Janet's family moved to Ohio in 1950 and Janet graduated from Southeast High School as an honor student in 1953. Janet married Lawrence "Jake" Adams in 1955. Janet was employed at General Tire before starting her family. After raising her children Janet returned to work and retired from Jeter Systems in 1993.
Janet's greatest love and joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Janet took great pride in decorating her home and tending her flowerbeds. She won a blue ribbon at the Portage County Fair for her gladioluses. Janet enjoyed going to craft shows, antiquing, vacationing at the beach, and loved spoiling her grandchildren at Christmas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Otis, Arlie, and Bob Brotherton; sister, Alice Brotherton; in- laws, Lawrence and Donna Adams; brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Elwood Adams; and sister-in-law, Velma Brotherton. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 57 years, Lawrence "Jake"; children, Eric (Georgia) Adams, Julie (Mike) Simile, Todd (Jenny) Adams; grandchildren, Michael, Spencer, Ian, Anna, Erin, Emma, and Amanda; brother, Edward Lee Brotherton; sister-in-law, Georgia Adams; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews; and her beloved dog Mattie.
Visitation will be Friday, November 16 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. followed by a noon memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
