James R. Weakland, 82, passed away on March 7, 2015 after a long courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born to the late George and Mary Weakland on April 22, 1932. He was the seventh of thirteen children. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy and past president of the Brimfield Lions Club. Jim retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 43 years of service. He was an avid wood worker, enjoyed golfing, fishing, softball and bike riding. He was especially proud of a cedar strip canoe that he built with his father in-law, Harold Duke. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl and George; sisters, Emily, Louise and Margaret. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Noma; son, Greg (Maria); daughters, Kathy (Tom) Scheck, Terri (Dave) Cowell, Diane (Bill) Luli; grandchildren, Christopher (Alyssa), Michael (Carey), Neil (Ann), Joey (Lindsay), Kyle, Tim (Sarah), Paul, Abby (Andy) and Kelly; 5 great-grandchildren, siblings, Rob, Hime, Mary Ann, Arlene, Geraldine, Tom, Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews including Scott and Jen Weakland who provided many hours of loving care and support allowing Noma and family to care for him at home until his passing. Special thanks to the nurses and aides at Crossroads Hospice. Funeral service will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 at St. Joseph's Church 2643 Waterloo Rd. Mogadore, OH (Randolph Twp.) at 11am.
