James P. Lewis Jr.
James P. Lewis Jr. 59, went home to be with the Lord suddenly on July 7, 2015. He was born in Akron, OH to the late James and Beverly Lewis. Jimmy was a custodian for Springfield Local Schools for over 22 years. He was a coach for many different sports and known as Coach Lewis to many people, and also known as Uncle Buck by family and friends. He was a loving, generous man with a great sense of humor who always put others first. He was very family-oriented and cherished his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their families.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; father in-law, Kenneth Weaver Sr.; and niece, Beverly Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife whom he adored, Barb; daughters, Kaylee and Shawna (David); son, Kevin (Amanda); step-children, Ray (Andrea), Ryan (Heather), Alicia and Nathan; grandchildren, Jakob, Marcus, Memphis, Elias, Austin, Autumn, Selina, Joey, Rylynn, Zoe, Ethan, Jared and Skieler. He was adored by sisters, Laura (Mick) Cochran, Jeanne Williams, Cathy (Charlie) Frye and Terri (Mike) Nagle; special Uncle Buck to his nieces and nephews, Master Sgt. Chris Cochran, Daniel Cochran, Beth Rayl, Erica Rhinehart, Roger and Julie Williams, Christina Ward, Sarah Schultz, Michelle Frye, Tara Howell, Shaun and Shane Nagle; mother in-law, Pat Shanaberger; and many special cousins, extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Sunday July 12, 2015 from 2-6pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Monday July 13, 2015 at 11am at Lakemore United Methodist Church 1535 Flickinger Rd. Akron, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family or to any First Merit branch for the James P. Lewis Jr. Memorial Springfield Scholarship Fund.
