James Gump, a beloved partner, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, at the age of 75, after a courageous battle with terminal cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and the compassionate staff of Summa Hospice, who provided exceptional care during his final days. Born on October 3, 1951, in Akron, Ohio, James was the cherished son of Henry and Lillie Gump.

James was a man of the people, known for his infectious sense of humor, tireless work ethic, and genuine care for others. He spent over 50 years as a dedicated field technician; He owned and operated Gumpster's Fleet Service for 30 years. A career that not only showcased his technical prowess but also his unwavering commitment to excellence and service.

For over three decades, James shared his life with his devoted partner, Kim Graham, whose companionship brought him immense joy and strength. Together, they built a loving family, joined by his children, James and Chris Gump, and Tehya Graham, who each carry forward his legacy of love and laughter. James is also survived by his brother Chuck (Martha) Gump, sister Dot Gump, and loved-one Kara Graham.

He was a proud grandfather to Alex, Brooke, Christopher, and Danielle, who were the light of his life. James adored spending time with them, whether it was sharing stories by the campfire, teaching them the art of fishing, or exploring the great outdoors on his beloved four-wheeler.

His heart was as vast as the Ohio skies he loved, always open to friends and family. James found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life, from casting a fishing line into a tranquil lake to enjoying the camaraderie of friends around a campsite.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillie Gump, and his sister, Carolyn Ball. Though he has left this world, the memory of his laughter, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

In honor of James’s compassionate spirit, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. They also extend their deepest gratitude to Summa Hospice and especially to Toni, James's nurse, for the incredible care and kindness they provided.

James Gump will be remembered as a pillar of strength and a beacon of joy, whose legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him. His spirit will forever remain a guiding light in our hearts.
