James E. Legg passed from this world on May 7, 2014 at 9:08 pm after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born in Akron on October 28, 1948 and lived all of his life in the area. Jim served six years in the Army National Guard before taking a discharge in 1973. He retired from Graphic Arts Rubber in 2010 so that he could concentrate on his family and the battle he had to fight.
Jim loved just about every sport and bowled very well, which also made him really good at corn-hole. He loved to fish with his son and they spent many days on the water arguing about who caught the best fish. Being near the water seemed to speak to his soul.
Jim was a generous man who helped anyone he was able to and gave all he had to his family. He was a good man, a good father, and a good son. Jim leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Lela Gail. He also leaves his son James Kevin (Kristen) and daughter Kelly Wehrlin-Doolittle (Jeff). He had three grandchildren: Kelsey Wehrlin, Colt Legg, and Shelby Doolittle. He is survived by his brother: Larry Legg, and sisters: Jan Leaver (Sam), Gloria Likens and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Walter Legg and his step-father Don Yaw. Many aunts, uncles and grandparents were also waiting to greet him when he crossed over. He will be missed by everyone that entered into his life. We salute you, our courageous warrior and will join you when our battle comes to an end.
Following his instructions after his cremation there will be a memorial service at Hillwood Chapel Church 4824 S. Arlington Rd. Akron, Ohio on May 15, 2015 starting at 4:30 pm.
