James David Williams

James David Williams, 74, of Akron, passed away at home on July 31, 2026. He was born on May 1, 1952 in Campbell County, Tennessee to the late James and Rosetta Williams.

Known as Dave to family and friends, he lived in Tennessee until he met a pretty girl named Juanita Fuston through friends. They quickly fell in love and married on November 11, 1970, settling in Kentucky to start their family.

Eventually, Dave and Juanita relocated to Akron, Ohio where he spent 26 years as a landscaper at Akron Children's Hospital.

An avid outdoorsman, Dave loved nothing more than spending quiet days fishing and hunting. He was a homebody at heart, and enjoyed sitting on the front porch swing with a cold beer and a view of his rose bushes.

Above all, Dave loved being with his family. He was a devoted husband and father and his greatest joy was being Papaw to his ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also held a special place in his heart for his dogs, Hoops and Hank (aka Honk Honk); and raccoon, Bandit.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, James Williams and Rosetta Bailey; brother, Bill Williams; and sister, Shirley Fannin.

Dave will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Juanita; sons, Jimmy, Dennis (Rachel) and Tommy (Crystal); sister, Louise Swann; daughter-in-law, Alyssa; sister-in-law, Pat; grandchildren, Landan, Brittany, Kalie (Chris), Kinley, Harlie, Maci, Jaxsin, Taryn, Carissa, and Cody (Kaylee); great-grandchildren, William and Lainey; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 1-3 p.m. followed by a 3:00 pm funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Dave will be privately laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
